Online invitation card with guest replies

The guest opens an envelope and finds the card. They add the event to their calendar (Google, Outlook or a file) and reply online.

The need

An organizer wants to send an invitation online and receive guests' replies without chasing them one by one.

What I built

The guest opens an envelope and discovers the card. They add the event to their calendar (Google, Outlook or a file) and reply online. The organizer gets an email with each reply. Each guest has a personal link that greets them by name. Two templates: a wedding and a company party.

Demo: the names, the date and the venue are made up.

Try it in the demo

  1. Open the envelope, as a guest would.
  2. Add the event to your calendar: Google Calendar, Outlook, or a file for other calendars.
  3. Fill in the reply form: the email the organizer receives is displayed.
  4. Open this personal link: the card greets the guest by name.
Under the hood

What I checked

  • Each guest has a personal link that greets them by name.
  • Google Calendar and Outlook open with the event already filled in.
  • A reply that doesn't say whether the guest is coming is refused. The text typed in is never interpreted as code.
  • On desktop, the card stays fixed on the left while you read and reply on the right.

Simulated in the demo

  • The email to the organizer is shown, not sent: in a live setup it goes to the client's own address.

39 checks in Chrome, on mobile and desktop, with no console errors.
